What do you think Japanese companies and/or government needs to do to help women in Japan?
I’m in my 40s and 37 weeks pregnant. For older working mums whose parents are also old, continuous support from partners is quite crucial. If women and men were free to work more flexibly for their family and for themselves, the workplace would be ideal, regardless of gender.
What advice do you have for the next generation of women in Japan?
When I was young, I wasn't interested in marriage, I was busy juggling work and life. There were days when I saw myself negatively - someone who couldn't focus on one thing. Now I realise those detours made me who I am now in a positive way, both at work and in my private life.
